In honor of my client Kate’s latest raffle (I’ll put the link at the bottom of the post) I thought that I would touch on the use of contests, giveaways, and raffles as part of an author’s brand.
Everyone loves freebies and if printing bookmarks or ordering pens just isn’t your thing, then sponsoring a giveaway can be a great way to drum up interest for your book. If you have any local events, be sure to mention the raffle in promotional materials or ads. Otherwise, post links to the raffle on each of your social media sites and encourage participants to share with their followers and friends. Kate is currently hosting a raffle for a free Kindle Fire HD. The second prize option is one of her books, either printed or in ebook format. If you can’t afford a flashy grand prize, no sweat. Contests are all about getting further exposure for you and your book.
